Learn How to Buy More and Pay Less

It is inevitable; prices go up all the time. This is particularly noticeable when taking a closer look at one’s weekly shopping bill for food or other essentials. When comparing receipts, it is confirmed that items bought the previous week are being sold at a slightly higher price the week after.

Although prices of items increase merely a few cents, this may change drastically in time of crisis. An excellent example of this is the gas price, fluctuating with the stock market.

Our budget seems to buy less after each visit to the supermarket or drugstore. What can we do to stretch our dollar’s worth? With a few minor adjustments in our shopping habits, we can make a huge difference. This could be simply by buying less expensive brands and stocking up on non-perishable items when they are on sale.

Another way of getting more for your money is by buying non-perishable items in greater quantities. Whenever you buy canned food, toiletries or any other kind of goods that keep in your pantry, always make the math and compare to see how much you could save if you buy in bulk.

There are many foods and household items that can be bought in bulk. Make room in your pantry and refrigerator to stock these items for later use. Be careful to keep certain foods protected from rodents or ants. For example, you can place sugar in a tin box and certain grains like oatmeal, in the refrigerator.

Take note of all non-perishable items you buy regularly, so next time you go shopping you will be on the lookout for sales and lower prices for all these items which you can stock. Of course, whenever buying food such as rice, flour, grains and so forth, always make sure to keep these in containers with tight lids.

Besides food and toiletries, one can also stock on clothing. Such items may be socks, stockings, underwear and lingerie, all which never go out of fashion. Obviously, you can’t do the same for children who are still growing. Also, it is not recommended to stock on apparel for women, due to the fashion trends.
