Coal bunkers are products that are made from galvanised steel which are capable of withstanding all weather conditions and these coal bunkers will last for my many years in addition to keeping large amounts of coal in a dry environment. Years ago it seemed like every household had a coal fire but there are fewer properties that benefit by solid fuel types of fire but if you are reading this I think you may be interested in changing that.
It is best to have some fuel stored near your fire in a coal bucket or hod and use fire tongs or a small coal shovel to take the few initial lumps from the coal bucket. These can either be purchased as separate items or you could use the tools from a companion set. In our experience at the initial fire lighting stage it is advisable not to pour fuel directly from your coal bucket or hod (sometimes also referred to as a scuttle) as dust from the fuel can choke the fire.
Once the initial fuel is burning you should then add more fuel to suit the size of the fire you require.
I would recommend the use of a fire screen or guard at all times with a log fire or fires using a fuel that tends to spit .You should always put a fireguard or fire screen in place when leaving the fire unattended (or falling asleep in front of the fire!). It is also advisable you have your chimney swept at least once a year if using your fire occasionally or twice if using it on a regular basis. It is possible to undertake this task yourself using sweeps brush heads and rods .
In addition to the fire grate or fire basket you purchase an ash pan to place under the fire to catch the ash, this makes the cleaning of the fire a lot easier. Ash pan carriers are designed to carry the ash pan out of the room without any risk of spillage which is great. You will also be able to use a special ash bin designed to allow you to put the hot ash straight in without the risk of melting the container, or the ash bin catching alight.
People with coal fires can have coal bunkers that are made from plastic and they are very hardy products indeed. Available in a number of sizes theyll keep coal out of harms way until you need to stock up on your fireside fuel.
A warming coal fire can bring great pleasure during the winter months and if it has items of fireplace accessories it will look more attractive by the minute. Now your fire is alive and roaring you can sit back and enjoy it, why not have a bit of fun and try toasting bread, crumpets, marshmallows on a toasting fork or roasting chestnuts by the fire on a chestnut roaster.More informations:wheeled foam fire extinguisher
